A happiness ritual is a strategy or activity undertaken to maintain or increase happiness in the short and long term. Throughout our LEAP programmes we introduce various happiness rituals for you to incorporate into your daily life, for a happier, more positive you.
Below, we’ve outlined a Happiness Ritual that we think you’ll like called ‘My Best Self’. Here are a few questions to help you recall what you are doing, thinking and saying when you are at your best.
Think about your ‘Best Self’
Allow yourself to think of stories from all contexts and time periods. Here are a few questions to help your visualisation:
– Where are you?
– What are you doing?
– Who are you with?
– How do you feel?
– What do you see?
– What impact are you having on others?
Now think about what it is that may be interfering with with your best self. Why are you sometimes not living up to your potential? What are the relationships, situations, thoughts and beliefs that inhibit or interfere with you being your best self? What might need to change? On the other hand, what are the relationships, situations, thoughts and beliefs that enable you to be your best self?
Now, create actions to bring your best self to life more often! Remember how good being your best self feels – how YOU feel. Consider what you will do in the future to leverage your best self, and use this knowledge to enhance your quality of life and keep your energy levels positive and high.
